Current Investees

Social Venture Partners Greater Tucson helps nonprofit organizations become more successful in fulfilling their missions. We invest in selected nonprofits – called Investees – by providing grants and the expertise of many talented Partners to improve their operations and put them on the road to sustainability.

Our investment focus is currently community literacy. Nearly one in 5 adults in Arizona is functionally illiterate. In Pima County, nearly 20% of the population over 5 years old cannot speak English. In Tucson, 27% of the population age 5 and older cannot speak English. 85% of Arizona prison inmates have not completed high school. Illiteracy is a root cause of other social problems. It impacts public health and safety, economic development and human rights. Literacy is the path to economic self-sufficiency for Southern Arizona’s people and the prescription for growing our economy at the rate we are growing our population.
