Partners are involved in all aspects of SVP’s operations through a variety of committees, board service, in addition to direct involvement with our investees through volunteer projects. Partners gauge their own involvement based on their time and interests.
Investment Committee–The Investment Committee chooses our newest investee and is at the heart of SVP. Starting in the Spring, we invite non-profits in the community that address community literacy to apply for investment by submitting proposals. The Partners on the Investment Committee review the proposals and select nonprofit organizations that will receive our financial and volunteer support. Partners have the opportunity to gain real insight into a variety of organizations in the community.
Governance Committee–The Governance Committee is responsible for ongoing review and recommendations to enhance the quality of the Board of Directors and develop leadership and succession plans for key SVP positions.
Portfolio Review Committee–Once the Investment Committee selects the Investees, the Portfolio Review Committee helps assess and make the annual refunding decisions in subsequent years. The Committee makes their decisions by conducting mid-year and annual reviews with each Investee. The Committee ensures that the SVP Portfolio is comprised of organizations that produce meaningful programmatic outcomes and benefit from SVP’s capacity-building support.
Finance Committee–The Finance Committee’s role is to ensure the organization’s financial stability by providing oversight on its budget and investments.
Events and Education–This Committee is responsible for the “social” part of SVP.This Committee ensures that we don’t forget about social networking and having fun! Additionally, Partner Education hopes to inspire and catalyze partners in their personal, family and community philanthropy. Sessions are designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of partners as community giving leaders, and help them make their own philanthropic plan. Partner education sessions are a great complement to hands-on work with SVP Investees.
Retention and Recruitment–Members of this Committee help identify and cultivate prospects for SVP, and assist in ensuring that current Partners are engaged to the extent that they choose to be.
